Posted by I met with a bunch of former colleagues recently. A regular monthly breakfast catch-up with a smaller group took on some momentum when we wondered if we put the word out, whether others would join. Well, yes, they came.
It was wonderful to catch up with so many people whom I had worked with in the early 1980s and beyond. Even more wonderful was that a number of them are still working (in slightly different roles albeit) for the same organisation today.
The laughter and war stories flowed in abundance. We reflected on those who, sadly, are no longer with us.
Of course, people’s memories of how amazing I was back in those days differ slightly from my own.
I often go on about how my government service provided excellent training, and I firmly believe this. It also instilled in me a strong interest in customer service, innovation (finding ways to do more with less), and a lifelong love of a good cup of tea.
